Why should I be concerned about Auto Insurance fraud?

Insurance crimes cost Americans $80 billion a year. But what does that number really mean? Yes, fraud costs you hundreds of dollars in higher premiums (nearly $950 for each family), but $80 billion would also:

  • Fund the entire U.S. space program for five years
  • Pay for more than twice the gold stored at Fort Knox
  • Make insurance fraud a Fortune 10 corporation - if fraud was a company
  • Pay college tuition for 12 million undergraduates a year
  • Fund AIDS treatment, prevention and research for the next eight years

What is Parkway doing to help prevent and detect insurance fraud?

Parkway is committed to fraud prevention and detection. Our Underwriters, Claim Representatives and Special Investigators work closely with the New Jersey Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor (OIFP) as well as State and Federal law enforcement agencies. Suspected fraudulent activities including rate evasion, misrepresentation and falsified claims are immediately reported to the OIFP for further investigation and possible civil and criminal penalties. If after a thorough investigation, fraud is verified, Parkway will take further action that may include policy voidance and/or denial of all related claims.

How can I help prevent and detect fraudulent insurance claims?

Everyone can help in the fight to eliminate insurance fraud. Several examples are listed below:

  • If you are involved in an accident and have a camera available, take pictures of all damaged vehicles.
  • After an accident, obtain as much information as possible and always call the police.
  • If you are injured in an accident, always compare the actual medical treatment you receive with the charges on the bill. Any discrepancies should be reported to your Claim Representative.
  • Suspected fraud schemes should be reported to the New Jersey Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor. A toll-free hot line has been established for this purpose: 1-877-55-FRAUD (1-877-553-7283)

Please remember, Insurance Fraud is Serious Crime….
